New Car Laws

Let’s pretend that I’m the U.S. congress. Of course, following the muddled idiocy of American citizens is always very complicated. That’s a tough job – for anyone.

Let’s start with a simple example of complication. Then we can either understand or pretend that you are a senator or representative and let’s see what YOU can come up with.

A few things to begin with. The military paid for the invention or development of several things – The computer, mobile phones (cells), ARPANET, encryption, rockets or drones (And others of course). Later in 2009 some states made laws regarding hand held cell phone use in an automobile being driven by the driver. More recently pushing buttons/texting on cells has been added.

Can we make this easier to understand? The basic controls of only one of our current problems originated with the following:

In 2015, most of American history is "pretty sketchy" but The model-T began in America about 1908 for a whopping price of ~$300. The same original problems that existed then still do. People were generally able to differentiate about turning left or right but the pedals were a bit more complicated.
Women started driving in the 1920's but currently both sexes are confused about using the correct pedal to either stop or go and they are running into buildings from parking spots. Driving an automobile correctly didn't progress effectively when new progress became apparent anyway.
A battery and an engine starter motor were taken for granted. Windshield wipers? . Everybody wanted those. Using windshield wipers were not considered illegal. Well, progress does not stop.

Are we understanding everything so far? Who wants to wear a helmet? Depending on your state, riding a motorcycle (or NHRA),a helmet is required. Allowed in cars? No! Figure that one out! Helmets are dangerous. Now let’s move on….

Driving is currently becoming even harder. Historically there was a button/valve for the wipers. Now, what do you suppose might be next?

You saw that picture of the GPS in our car’s headboard. That GPS IS a computer. I think I want to die before that same computer wants to drive my own car for me.   While something else is driving for me then I can drink as much alcohol or smoke dope that I want to while answering and texting on my computer around my wrist.

Do we need more laws - yet?  It’s not my fault if my car runs into or kills you.

The computer is not guilty of anything. Or was HAL?

We're already dealing with that kind.
